What are the benefits of a timber deck?
They’re great for relaxation
A timber deck really is a great spot to sit back and relax!
The modern world is a frantic place and commitments such as kids, work, friends and family can all take their toll.
It’s important to take some time out of your busy schedule for yourself – and a timber deck is the perfect way to do just that.
Stop and enjoy a few moments of tranquillity. You’ve earned it.
They increase the value of a property
A pristine timber deck in your backyard will increase the value of your home – possibly by as much as 12 per cent!
Installing a timber deck is obviously a great move for the here and now, but if you’re ever planning on selling your home it’s a smart investment for the future as well.
Our timber is environmentally sourced
Timber is a renewable resource, so you don’t have to feel guilty about installing a timber deck!
Despite this, it’s always a good idea to check if the company you choose uses sustainable methods to obtain their timber.
Ask if they source their wood from plantations or managed forests. You also have the option to use recycled wood – it’s both greener and cheaper than the alternative!
Here at Australian Outdoor Living, we source our hardwoods from managed forests and our pine from plantations. This means we can build your timber deck at little to no cost to the environment!
Timber is a very durable material
The best part about timber decks is that they’re strong and durable.
Depending on the type of timber you use and how well you maintain it, your deck could last up to 40 years.
Your geographical location is important to think about as well, as some timbers are more suited to certain climates.
For example, a deck made of Merbau timber will hold up on a property near the beach, while other, less durable timbers won’t last as long.

What type of timber do you offer?
Australian Outdoor Living currently offers a number of different types of timber when it comes to installing a timber deck.

How do I maintain my timber deck?
A timber deck is a big investment, so it’s important you take the proper steps in maintaining it.
It’s a good idea to thoroughly clean your deck at least once a year.
Apply a deck cleaning solution with a sprayer or roller to make sure you kill all the bacteria and mould hiding in the wood.
After you’ve done this, rinse your deck with a garden hose with a good amount of water pressure.
Please note: DO NOT use a high pressure washer – this will damage your deck.
Make sure you regularly sweep your decking and fix any minor damage immediately.
