Vigorous Testing
For our Artificial Lawn to comply with our high standards, it must go through vigorous testing throughout the manufacturing process. This includes testing the consistency, application and weight of the PU or latex materials used during the backing process, the temperatures of extrusion machines and curing ovens, checking the backing has dried correctly and drainage holes are correctly applied during manufacture, followed by testing the strength of the tuft lock, the length of the fibre and density of stitches following completion.
From raw material selection to the entire production process, we pursue the excellence of each detail.
- Pull Test
Our artificial lawn undergoes a pull test to assess the strength of the blades. A result of 30N (Newtons - a measure of force) is a good result - Our lawns produce results of up to 89N. This means that our lawn is durable and able to withstand large amounts of pulling force. - Colour Consistency
As a part of the testing process, different batches of lawn are placed against each other in order to compare the colour. Display samples are also compared. The results showed that the colour of our lawn remained consistent across the tested batches and samples, meaning that our product will achieve an even finish every time. - Drainage
To guarantee that water is able to drain through our artificial lawn in a similar way to natural grass, our product has a perforated backing mat. The drainhole distance and positioning is tested to ensure that the measurements and specifications achieve the expected result - allowing rain and water to drain efficiently. - Blade Length
For natural looking lawn, an ideal blade length is no longer than 37mm. While longer blades may appear more soft/lush, the weight will cause them to bend and flatten over time, leaving the lawn looking squashed and uneven. Our lawn blades measure between 20-37mm depending on the variety, making for resilient and great-looking lawn for years to come. - Durability
To test the durability of our lawn, the backing is bent and creased. The test results showed no breaks or cracks. This shows that our artificial lawn is tough and able to withstand the wear and tear of everyday life such as a game of backyard cricket, playing with the dog or running around with the kids. - Thickness
The backing and individual yarns of the lawn are measured with and without pressure and meet the standards of the test, ensuring consistent blade dimensions. This means that the backing is a strong and supportive base for the lawn blades, ensuring that they stay in place.

Equipment and Machinery
There are many steps in the Artificial lawn manufacturing process. Each manufacturing stage involves the most advanced technology and machinery available, under strict quality control standards.
With over 20 years in the Artificial Lawn manufacturing industry, our lawn is researched, developed and created by experts with a dedication to the improvement and quality of our Artificial Lawn products.
-
Realistic AppearanceCurly brown thatching emulates appearance of natural grass, while a variety of shades of olive and forest greens create a realistic look. Matte, irregular blades create a true to life look with no artificial shine or unnatural colours in sight.
-
Soft and StrongThick, durable yarns and dense, soft tufts for luxurious finish that is soft underfoot and remains a similar temperature to natural grass.
-
Australia ProofUtilising 100% pure, high-quality materials and premium UV inhibitors, our Lawns are rigorously tested for UVA 5000h and UVB 3000h resistance, surpassing industry standards, ensuring a longer service life ideal for regions with intense sunlight.
The Manufacturing Process
The manufacturing process includes:
- Raw Material Selection
Materials are selected for their durability, UV resistance, Realistic Colour, Softness and strength. - Yarn Extrusion
Polymers that have been carefully selected for their durability, UV resistance, are extruded into realistic lawn blades and curly thatching yarns. - Yarn Twisting
The extruded yarns are twisted into small bundles, that will then be secured to a heavy duty backing. - Tufting
The yarn bundles are tufted (or sewn) into the backing material to create a thick, dense and luxurious lawn pile. - Backing/Finishing
A coating is added to the underside of the lawn to bind the fibers to the backing and provide a durable, flexible structure. - Final quality check
- Roll and transit
Ultra Realistic
Designed to be indistinguishable from the real thing, our Artificial Lawn is designed with variations in length and colour, as well as a curly brown lower thatching (the appearance of dry lower grass blades) to create the most realistic Artificial Grass on the market.
Our commitment to realism and aesthetics sets our residential artificial grass apart. By combining several blade designs, multi-shades of green, and a visually realistic thatch layer, our turf closely replicates the natural look and feel of real grass.
Designed to reflect the appearance of grass from various regions, our products seamlessly blend with any residential setting, enhancing your outdoor space with a lush, inviting aesthetic.
Whether you're looking for something short, uniform and perfect looking or something longer with more textural variation, we have the perfect lawn for you.
Sustainability
Australian Outdoor Living are dedicated to ensuring all manufacturing, product development and innovations adhere to strict environmentally positive and sustainable standards. We are committed to taking a systematic approach to environmental protection and to consistently contribute to our sustainable future.
Our Manufacturer has implemented the use of a rooftop solar powered system, consisting of 110,000 square meters of panels, which annually generate 8 million kW⋅h of electricity to support the needs of their manufacturing plant. The use of this rooftop eco solution is estimated to prevent the release of approximately 4,880 tons of CO₂ emissions per year. This is equivalent to the CO₂ absorption of about 10,495 trees.
The solar paneled roof annually prevents 3200 tons of coal burning, 2176 tons of carbon dust, 240 tons of SO₂ and 120 tons of NOx . Clean and renewable energy is at the core of our environmental commitment.
Further, all packaging is produced using recycled materials: Paper tubes that are used to roll the artificial grass are made from recycled paper waste, and lightweight plastic plugs are made from reprocessed discarded yarn.
Safety
Our Lawns provide a secure, worry-free play area for families and pets, as it is non-toxic, lead-free, and low-allergen, and meets stringent international safety standards such as REACH, EN71-3, ASTM, and DIN.
Our artifiical grass factory complies with ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001 and has passed various strict factory audits including BSCI, WFSGI, ICS & SEDEX.
Fire Ratings
Australian Outdoor Living’s artificial lawn has been fire tested in accordance with:
EN 13501 - 1:2007 + A1:2009 Fire Classification of Construction Products and Building Elements -
Part 1: Classification using data from reaction to fire tests are as below:
Class Efl: Augusta/Savanah Broad Leaf/Fairway.
