Searching for a backyard they could enjoy in any season without the hassle, Rob and Lyn turned to Australian Outdoor Living. With a new Timber Pergola and SmartTrack Outdoor Blind, their outdoor space is now comfortable, protected, and ready to use all year round.

Just around the corner in Frewville, SA, this once underused backyard is now one of the most loved areas of the home — transformed by a SmartTrack Outdoor Blind and a Timber Pergola.

The Challenge

Rob and Lyn’s backyard came with its fair share of challenges. The open-air space was exposed to strong winds, heavy rain, and offered no protection from the harsh summer sun. It could only be used in ideal weather conditions. 

The Solution

After discussing his needs with the team at Australian Outdoor Living, Rob got his outdoor space designed up by one of our friendly design consultants. With help from Australian Outdoor Living, the area has now been transformed into a versatile outdoor room that can be enjoyed year-round, no matter the weather.

The Installation Process:

  1. Site assessment and planning: The process began with a detailed assessment of Rob and Lyn’s backyard. The team considered factors like sun exposure, wind direction, and how the space would be used to determine the ideal placement for the new Pergola and Outdoor Blinds. Rob requested that the Pergola be gabled & Timber so our design team took this into account. 
  2. Pergola installation: With the plan in place, the team installed a custom-designed Timber Pergola, ensuring solid footings, precise alignment, and a clean finish. The structure was built to provide lasting shelter and seamlessly integrate with the home’s exterior.
  3. Fitting the SmartTrack Outdoor Blinds: Once the Pergola was up, our team installed one of our remote-controlled SmartTrack Outdoor Blinds. These motorised blinds are designed to offer superior protection from wind, rain, and harsh sunlight, all at the touch of a button—making the space effortlessly adaptable to any weather.
  4. Final adjustments and testing: After installation, final checks were made to ensure everything was operating smoothly. The blind’s remote-control function was tested, and all fittings were secured for long-term durability and ease of use.
  5. A transformed space: With their new Pergola and SmartTrack Outdoor Blind in place, Rob and Lyn now have a stylish and functional outdoor area that’s perfect for year-round enjoyment.

The Result

Rob and Lyn couldn’t be happier with the transformation. Their backyard has gone from an exposed, weather-affected space to a comfortable, protected area perfect for relaxing and entertaining. Rob mentioned how great the experience was, praising the design consultant for bringing the vision to life.
