Your Outdoor Kitchen’s mild steel cooktop is designed to be seasoned before use – Cooking on an unseasoned cooktop can cause food to stick and damage your hotplate.
This can be repeated as necessary to maintain the non-stick finish. Refer to user manual for detailed instructions.
Our Outdoor Kitchen Benchtops are 100% Silica Free
The two right-to-left burners run across the full length of the Hotplate, boasting a much more even heat distribution in comparison to their conventional front-to-back burner system counterparts. Placed horizontally along the hotplate, this ribbon burner system provides a simpler, minimal gas manifold set up, meaning less parts and far easier maintenance.
It also means the control panel can be installed to the right of the hotplate, rather than across the front, giving a sleek finish and allowing flexibility with regards to the placement of the hotplate along the bench.
The combination of these ribbon burners and the Mild Steel Plate ensure a highly efficient cooking system, requiring less gas consumption than a conventional burner system and cast-iron cooking surface.
To achieve an optimal cooking surface, we recommend a solid plate. Available in mild steel or stainless steel, our Australian made cooktops dispenses heat quickly and evenly for the perfect teppanyaki style cooking. Thanks to its uniform heat distribution, this means the entire cooking surface can be utilised, giving even and consistent results during every cook. Plus, with a solid plate, clean up after cooking is simple – easily scrape any remaining fat and grease into the fat trap for disposal. For a deep clean, the hotplate can easily be removed entirely from the brace and replaced once cleaning is completed.
Alternatively, we also offer a mild steel or stainless steel grill plate option, allowing you to cook a wide range of dishes in an efficient manner. Our grill plates provide the ideal surface for grilling vegetables and meats like steaks or sausages, creating a nice and crispy with that classic smoky flavour.
Whether you are seeking a teppanyaki or flamed-grill style cooking experience, we have the perfect option to suit your needs and preferences.
Before using your hotplate, ensure you wash it with hot soapy water to remove the protective layer of lanolin oil. You will know the oil has been removed once the water runs clear. Once this is done you can season your hotplate ready for its first use.
We recommend protecting the surface of your benchtop from intense heat.
We recommend using warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth. Washing up liquid will remove grease and dirt built up. We don’t recommend cleaning your kitchen with bleach, harsh chemicals or abrasives.
Wipe over the hotplate with a clean damp cloth once the heat has subsided. If there is any excess build-up of fat and grease, this can simply be scraped into the fat catcher for easy disposal. Alternatively, you can remove the hotplate entirely from the brace and pressure wash it.
The fat trap is found under the hotplate at the front of the cooktop. You will notice a hole in the plate at the front; use your lifting hook, lift the plate up from this hole and then simply slide the container out from its brace.
As you heat up the mild steel hotplate it will change colour, darkening directly over the burners first as this is where it gets the hottest. This colouring process will eventually spread over most of your hotplate.
We don’t recommend cleaning your kitchen with bleach, harsh chemicals or abrasives.
