Do you have a question about artificial lawn? We sat down with the experts to get all the answers.
Installing artificial lawn is a big decision to make, so it makes sense that you might have a few questions about it.
Here at Australian Outdoor Living, we’re familiar with all the questions you might have.
To ensure you’re a little more informed when making landscaping choices, we compiled some popular artificial lawn FAQs and sat down to chat with our expert team to get all of your questions answered.
Will my artificial lawn get hot in summer?
During summer, there’s a chance your artificial lawn may become hot to the touch if exposed to the sun for extended periods of time.
If your lawn is uncomfortable to touch, we recommend wearing shoes, using a picnic blanket or sitting on a chair outside. A quick spray of the hose will do wonders as well!
How long does it take to install artificial lawn?
It will usually take four to six weeks from your initial consult to complete your artificial lawn installation.
Your geographical location will play the biggest part in determining how long your installation will take.
How do I prevent weeds from growing through my artificial lawn?
Unfortunately it’s impossible to totally prevent weeds from growing through your lawn.
Whilst most weeds are removed during the ‘dig-out’ portion of your installation, there will always be a stray weed that pokes its head through.
We recommend spraying the area with weed killer, available from any local hardware store. Alternatively, you can simply pull them out!
Does Australian Outdoor Living manufacture its artificial grass in Australia?
We pride ourselves on being able to provide the highest quality products on the market.
Occasionally, that does mean looking to overseas suppliers to source some of our products.
Whilst we have offered Australian made lawn in the past, we currently source it from international suppliers.
This was not an easy decision to make, but it does mean we can offer our customers a superior product for a lower price.
Can I park my car on my artificial lawn?
We don’t recommend parking a vehicle on artificial lawn, as long-term compression can result in irreversible damage.
Will my artificial lawn attract insects?
Insects flourish in habitats with natural soil and organic material, as well as stagnant water.
Since artificial lawn isn’t a natural product, insects find it to be a very unattractive environment.
Artificial grass from Australian Outdoor Living also features excellent drainage, so you won’t have to worry about mosquitoes hanging around pools of stagnant water.
As long as you keep your lawn free of leaves and other organic debris, you won’t be bothered by any critters and creepy crawlies.
Can I install artificial lawn myself?
In short, yes. However, as you are making a permanent change to the home, we recommend you arrange to have the work completed by professionals.
This will ensure you get the perfect results you were hoping for.
Does artificial lawn stand up to children playing on it?
Absolutely! Our artificial turf has an advantage over real lawn as the latex infill acts as padding.
Plus you won’t have to contend with the kids trudging muddy or sandy footprints into the house.
That said, if rough play does disturb the infill, it can be easily restored by brushing the lawn with a stiff bristle broom.
Is artificial lawn pet-friendly?
Our complete range of artificial lawn both looks and feels like the real thing, so it’s soft enough for your pets to lay and play on.
No matter which synthetic grass you pick, our lawn is resilient and will not fade when exposed to pet urine over a long period of time.
You can simply hose off the urine and pick up after your pets as you normally would.

How much does artificial lawn cost?
It’s difficult to put a price on your grass over the phone. We don’t like to guess when quoting a job – we prefer to be as accurate and honest as possible.
There are many different factors which affect the end figure – the type of lawn you choose, the amount of work required and site access to name a few – which is why the best, and most accurate, way for us to quote is for us to visit and measure your chosen area.
This is why we offer you a free measure and quote.
It may cost you a cup of coffee, and an hour or so of your time, but this way you will know for certain everything has been covered!
We’ll send one of our friendly staff around to help you achieve the result you’re after. They’ll also bring samples of the product so you can see for yourself how realistic it is!
