What does your query relate to?

Our artificial grass is hard to price up over the phone or on the spot. Guesstimates are just that – guesses – and so it can be misleading.

There are many different factors which affect the end figure – the type of lawn you choose, work required and access to name a few – which is why the best, and most accurate, way for us to quote is for us to visit on site and measure up your chosen area.

It is, for this reason, we offer a FREE design, measure and quote.

We will send one of our friendly staff to pop around to your place and help you achieve the result you’re after.

They will also bring samples of the product and other components used for you to touch and feel.

Learn why more people are turning to artificial grass.

It is impossible to fully prevent all weeds from growing through your artificial lawn.

Whilst most weeds are removed during the ‘dig out’ portion of the installation, there will always be a stray weed that decides to poke its head through your grass.

We recommend spraying the area with weed killer, available from any local hardware store. Alternatively, you can simply pull them out when they appear.

There are plenty of ways to minimise the odours coming out of your artificial grass.

We recommend cleaning up after your dog or cat on a regular basis and regularly rinsing your lawn with a garden hose.

The main problem with this type of smell is that animal urine generally consists of particles that most cleaning products won’t be able to breakdown. Unfortunately, it’s these particles that release the unpleasant odours.

First off, it’s important that any option you go with doesn’t contain harsh or hazardous ingredients. Not only can this damage your artificial lawn, but they can also transfer onto your pet’s paws and cause irritation. Luckily, there are several tried and tested methods of getting unpleasant smells out of artificial lawn.

When you first contact us, we’ll organise a time that suits you to visit you in your home.

We’ll discuss with you exactly what you’re after, then we’ll measure the area and prepare an accurate quote based on your personal preferences.

We design every project based on each customer’s individual needs, lifestyle and budget. This ensures you get a product that is unique to you and your home.

Installation time for roller shutters can vary depending on a number of factors, but it will usually take between 4 and 6 weeks from the initial consultation.

Inclement weather can be a big reason for unexpected delays, but geographical location will play the biggest part in determining how long your installation will take.

Our roller shutters are the thickest in the market.

Here at Australian Outdoor Living, we take pride in the quality of our products.

That’s why we’ve gone the extra mile and made sure our roller shutters are the thickest on the market in Australia.

Our roller shutters are 8mm thick, meaning they’ll successfully insulate your home against the weather outside, as well as keep out light, noise and intruders.

You’ll sleep soundly knowing your roller shutters are from Australian Outdoor Living.

Click here to find out more on how Roller Shutters can insulate your home.

Our roller shutters are the CSIRO’s preferred option for effectively covering windows in bushfire prone areas.

It’s important to mention that roller shutters are not fireproof.

They will not prevent your home from being damaged in a bushfire, and they should never be used as the last line of defence in a bushfire action plan.

They will offer your home a level of protection that uncovered windows will not.

Roller Shutters can help but being prepared is more important.

Roller shutters will protect your home in the event of an ember attack, and they will help you to regulate the temperature inside your house in the event of a bushfire.

We cannot recommend highly enough the importance of being prepared.

Practice your action plan on a regular basis, and sit down with your family and make sure each member is aware of their role.

Click here to find out what the top 4 benefits are about our Roller Shutters.

Roller Shutters Act as an Deterrent to Potential Burglars!

We can’t guarantee that our roller shutters will completely stop a thief gaining access to your home, but they do act as a deterrent to potential burglars.

Would-be thieves will see your shutters and immediately being to have second thoughts about breaking into your home.

They’ll consider the time it will take to gain access and the amount of noise they might make in doing so.

Because of this, they’ll likely move on to an easier target.

Despite this, you should not use your roller shutters as the sole security measure in your home.

The best defense against intruders is a combination of security measures.

Click here to find out what the top 4 benefits are about our Roller Shutters.

Roller Shutters need regular cleaning and maintenance!

Like everything, roller shutters need regular cleaning and maintenance if you want them to stay in perfect working order.

Luckily, cleaning them is almost as easy as using them!

All it takes to clean your roller shutters is some warm soapy water and a cloth.

Simply wipe away the dust and dirt, paying close attention to the areas between the slats.

Avoid using a side-to-side motion, as it could dislodge the slats from their tracks.

For more tips click here to find out on how to look after your shutters.

According to Energy Australia, roller shutters can potentially save you up to $850 a year on gas and electricity.

This figure will change depending on the household, as there are a number of factors that can determine your energy usage.

Quality of household appliances, number of residents and willingness to take energy saving measures will all contribute to the cost of your utilities bill. Find out more on how Roller Shutters can save you money.

Timber has a much more traditional look and feel, while steel is often more modern and contributes to a more contemporary aesthetic.

On top of this, steel is more durable and weather-resistant than timber, but a lot of people prefer the traditional look and feel of a timber carport.

You can find out more about the difference between timber and steel structures here.

Exterior blinds are usually not 100 per cent water proof.

However depending on the material and the quality and weave of the fabric, outdoor blinds can be quite water-resistant.

For external weather protection, one does not usually require exterior blinds to be totally water resistant.

Most blinds will stop a large majority of rain in its tracks, ensuring you won’t have to worry about the wet weather spoiling your plans.

Which External Blinds From Australian Outdoor Living Are More Water Resistant?

Our clear and tinted Bella Crystal and Bella Bronze material options are more water resistant than our Bella Vista and Bella Opaque shade material, however, they can ONLY be installed on our classic system.

Installation time for a timber deck can vary depending on a number of factors.

If your deck is less than 500mm off the ground, we don’t need to obtain council approval and it will likely be finished about three to four weeks after the initial consultation.

Should your deck be taller than 500mm, we will require council approval.

In this case you will likely have to wait eight to 10 weeks from the initial consultation.

The timber decking we can offer does vary, as it depends on the current market price.

We currently offer five different types of timber: merbau, kapur, ACQ clear pine, forest red and spotted gum.

We also offer a unique wood and plastic composite called ModWood, which is even more environmentally friendly.

Our experienced design consultants will be happy to recommend the perfect timber to suit your home, lifestyle and needs.

You can also head over to our blog to learn about the benefits of each, as well as find out which one might be best for your home.

Absolutely! Here at Australian Outdoor Living, we’re proud of our efforts to protect the environment.

We make sure we source all our timber in the most environmentally friendly way possible.

Our durable hard woods are sourced from managed forests, while our pine is grown in a plantation.

You also have the option to use recycled timber.

Keeping your timber deck clean and well-maintained can be an annoying job, but it’s certainly an important one. If you don’t stay on top of it, there’s a chance your deck will begin to deteriorate.

There are two ways to clean a timber deck. You can either use soapy water and some good old fashioned elbow grease, or you can purchase a power washer.

For detailed instructions on how to clean and maintain your timber deck, check out our blog.

Quick tips for cleaning External Blinds

Keep your blinds dust free by regularly cleaning both sides of the material using a soft cloth and water. This will ensure that you avoid the build up of dust or dirt.

Don’t leave foreign matter such as dirt, bird droppings or tree sap in contact with the material of the shade blind for an extended period of time.

Here is our recommended cleaning process for Australian Outdoor Living blinds.

Find Out Some Reasons Why To Install Blinds

External Blinds work as an exterior blind that are generally used on outdoor spaces such as Pergolas, Verandahs and Patios. Many home owners consider installing an outdoor blind to enhance and extend their outdoor living space.

It acts as a barrier for your outdoor space turning it into an extra room for your house. They are used to block out wind and rain and can give users shade protection against the harsh sun and UV rays.

An external blind is also known to block out dust, debris and insects. It can be used to give users privacy from the outside and block out the view into their outdoor area.

Australian Outdoor Living Blinds can be rolled up using a number of different mechanisms. Some Blind products on the market use manual pulley or cord systems, gear tensioned systems, manual articulated rod systems, retractable systems or automatic motorized operating systems.

Some outdoor blind products can require the user to roll the blind up themselves and use straps to keep them rolled up and in place. A number of outdoor blind products also use a track guided system designed to ensure a quality fit.

Outdoor Blinds from Australian Outdoor Living operate using either a gear tensioned system, a manually operated track blind or an automatic motorized track blind.

Choose from manual or motorized operating options to suit your needs.

Here is a simple guide explaining how to operate outdoor blinds.

To answer the question… yes dogs do like artificial grass!

Like with us, Artificial Grass has several characteristics that benefit dogs.

Here are just a few benefits that good quality Artificial Lawns have for your dog. Artificial Grass is soft and plush meaning your dogs can roll and lounge around on it without getting scratched or scorched like they would on hard surfaces like concrete. Artificial Grass can also be deterrent to ticks and fleas.

These bugs simply aren’t attracted to Artificial Grass like they are natural grass therefore giving you and your dog one less thing to worry about. It also doesn’t contain any spikes or prickles making it more comfortable for your dog to play around on. Quality Artificial grass is specially designed to drain liquid through it.

The drainage qualities of Artificial Grass also means that when your dog goes to the toilet on the grass you can easily pick it up and hose off your lawn allowing the water to then drain away. Find more about Why your dog will love synthetic grass.

We are unable to supply the cooktop on its own, as our cabinets are specially made to comply with ventilation requirements needed for the cooktop to sit inside the cabinetry.

We don’t recommend cleaning your kitchen with bleach, harsh chemicals or abrasives.

As you heat up the mild steel hotplate it will change colour, darkening directly over the burners first as this is where it gets the hottest. This colouring process will eventually spread over most of your hotplate.

The fat trap is found under the hotplate at the front of the cooktop. You will notice a hole in the plate at the front; use your lifting hook, lift the plate up from this hole and then simply slide the container out from its brace.

Wipe over the hotplate with a clean damp cloth once the heat has subsided. If there is any excess build-up of fat and grease, this can simply be scraped into the fat catcher for easy disposal. Alternatively, you can remove the hotplate entirely from the brace and pressure wash it.

We recommend using warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth. Washing up liquid will remove grease and dirt built up. We don’t recommend cleaning your kitchen with bleach, harsh chemicals or abrasives.

We recommend protecting the surface of your benchtop from intense heat.

Before using your hotplate, ensure you wash it with hot soapy water to remove the protective layer of lanolin oil. You will know the oil has been removed once the water runs clear. Once this is done you can season your hotplate ready for its first use.

To achieve an optimal cooking surface, we recommend a solid plate. Available in mild steel or stainless steel, our Australian made cooktops dispenses heat quickly and evenly for the perfect teppanyaki style cooking. Thanks to its uniform heat distribution, this means the entire cooking surface can be utilised, giving even and consistent results during every cook. Plus, with a solid plate, clean up after cooking is simple – easily scrape any remaining fat and grease into the fat trap for disposal. For a deep clean, the hotplate can easily be removed entirely from the brace and replaced once cleaning is completed.

Alternatively, we also offer a mild steel or stainless steel grill plate option, allowing you to cook a wide range of dishes in an efficient manner. Our grill plates provide the ideal surface for grilling vegetables and meats like steaks or sausages, creating a nice and crispy with that classic smoky flavour.

Whether you are seeking a teppanyaki or flamed-grill style cooking experience, we have the perfect option to suit your needs and preferences.

Not to worry, artificial grass is child and pet friendly.

Our entire rage of artificial grass is free of any chemicals and pesticides that you may find in natural grass which means it’s safe for the kids to play on for as long as their little heart’s desire.

The artificial fibres are soft beneath their feet and you won’t have to spend time getting those annoying prickles out of your dog’s fur.

Fake grass has excellent drainage and generally remains dry, meaning they can play on it without getting dirty or muddy.

If you’re not convinced by now, let us take you through some other reasons why Artificial grass is fantastic for dogs and kids!

Our range of artificial lawn requires minimal maintenance which means you get back time so you can do the things you love.

To keep it looking top notch, simply rake it using a lightweight plastic fan style rake or a strong bristled broom to help remove leaves or debris in your lawn.

After that, a quick rinse with a garden hose will help keep the lawn bristles looking clean and new.

As with all our products, our friendly consultants will provide you with proper instructions and training on how to best maintain your lawn.

If you want to know even more, here are five handy tips on how to maintain your artificial lawn.

Australian Outdoor Living offers the follow warranty to our range of Artificial Grass:

  • 12 MONTH labour*
  • 5 YEARS on Fairway Range
  • 7 YEARS on Augusta Range and Savannah Broad Leaf Range

Not only does artificial lawn give you more free time, but it also gives your wallet a break as well.

Although it may seem like installing artificial turf will be a significant cost in the short term, in the long term it will mean more money in your pocket. You will see a significant drop in your water bills – especially in summer when you’re having to water your natural lawn twice a day to try and keep it looking green. Gone will be the days of buying fertilisers and lawn maintenance equipment, where the ongoing costs gets more expensive each time, we must go to the bowser to fill them up.

If you want to know even more, here are Five benefits of artificial grass.

Practically anywhere!

All you need is a surface with a porous base for water drainage or a cement or paved area which has been cleaned and prepped.

Here are just a few ideas you can explore further:

  • You can use artificial lawn in a whole host of different, outside-the-box ways. Find more inspiration here.
  • You can layer synthetic turf over concrete in dozens of original ways.

Absolutely!

Our Synthetic Turf has an advantage over real lawn as the latex infill acts as padding.

Plus, you won’t have to worry about the kids trudging muddy or sandy footprints into the house.

That said, if rough play does disturb the infill, it can be easily restored by brushing the lawn with a stiff bristle yard broom.

If you want to know even more, here we explain why Australian Outdoor Living’s range of quality artificial lawns are child and pet friendly.

In short – yes.

However, as you are making a permanent change to the home, we recommend homeowners and investors arrange to have all work carried out professionally by trusted tradesmen.

This will ensure you get the perfect results you were hoping for.

Our complete range of artificial lawn is built to withstand all the elements…and your furry friends.

As it looks and feels like real grass it’s soft for your pets to lay and play on.

No matter which artificial grass you pick, our lawn is resilient and will not fade from harsh urine acid.

You can simply hose off the urine and pick up after your pets as you normally would.

If you want to know even more, read our comprehensive post on the Top Ways You Never Knew Synthetic Grass Benefits You & Your Dog.

Artificial Grass does not need an underlay; however, it is recommended that it is laid on top of a subbase that generally consists of a soil or type of sand. This will ensure that your Artificial Turf doesn’t develop bumps over time. For more information contact Australian Outdoor Living and we will get one of our friendly sales consultants to help you today.

At Australian Outdoor Living all our artificial lawns are installed on top of a layer of dolomite. Dolomite is a substance that we use to ensure that your lawn stays flatter for longer. We use dolomite due to its durability – if we were to use dirt or regular sand your lawn would develop lumps after a couple of years. The base of dolomite is a standard thickness of 50mm, but customers do have the option to request a thicker layer.

The two right-to-left burners run across the full length of the Hotplate, boasting a much more even heat distribution in comparison to their conventional front-to-back burner system counterparts. Placed horizontally along the hotplate, this ribbon burner system provides a simpler, minimal gas manifold set up, meaning less parts and far easier maintenance.

It also means the control panel can be installed to the right of the hotplate, rather than across the front, giving a sleek finish and allowing flexibility with regards to the placement of the hotplate along the bench.

The combination of these ribbon burners and the Mild Steel Plate ensure a highly efficient cooking system, requiring less gas consumption than a conventional burner system and cast-iron cooking surface.

Whilst our cabinets and drawers have a fixed height and depth, there are a selection of cabinet widths available to create a streamlined wall to wall installation that best fits your outdoor area.

Adding outdoor roller blinds to your home is a huge step.

It’s a big enough process without having to worry about extra costs to fix your blinds later down the track.

That’s why we’ve come up with this ‘how to’ of cleaning and maintaining your outdoor roller blinds.

We all know the vast array of great opportunities living in Australia provides and enjoying the beautiful weather in our ‘sunburnt country’ is one of them.

The sun and quality family time in the backyard is one of life’s simple pleasures.

Your Outdoor Kitchen’s mild steel cooktop is designed to be seasoned before use – Cooking on an unseasoned cooktop can cause food to stick and damage your hotplate.

Follow these steps to keep your cooktop in perfect, non-stick condition

This can be repeated as necessary to maintain the non-stick finish. Refer to user manual for detailed instructions.

  1. Clean your hotplate with hot soapy water
Ensure to remove all oils and dirt from packaging and transit.
  2. Heat plate and wipe on a very small amount of any edible oil
Maintain high heat for 2-3 minutes to burn off oil.
  3. Repeat until hotplate is an even brown colour
Wipe away any excess oil with a clean cloth or paper towel. Your cooktop is now ready to use.
  4. Repeat prior to every cook for the perfect non stick finish
The cooktop will become darker and seasoning properties will improve with each use.
